There are many reasons to look into a Hybrid or electric vehicle in 2025. While gas prices have been relatively stable it is still a great idea to consider getting better mileage or not pay for gasoline.
There are a lot more vehicles on the road in 2025 then there were 5 years ago. Many car manfuacturers such as Ford, Volkeswagon, Honda, and Hyundai have boith Hybrid vehicle and electric vehicle options.

One of the major concerns of and issues in the past with fully electric venicles in Minnesota are our extremely cold temperatures. No vehicles run the best when the temperatur is below zero. Battery power and performance is effected when the temperature drops. Nowadays, many of the newer models are able to have batteries that handle the colder weather much better.

Hybrid Advantages
Hybrids are considered to be some of the best vehicles on the road today. Hybrid vehicles have both an engine and a large battery for operation. The idea is that the engine will charge the battery when driving. You do not have to plug in a Hybrid vehicle since the gas engine charges it back up whenever you drive. Most hybrid vehicles can several more miles to the gallon for thier all gasoline counterparts. For example the Toyota Highlander averages 35 miles per gallon, vs the all engine mode which is 25 miles per gallon.
The nice thing about a Hybrid is that if you are driving long long distances or live in a very rural area, you do not necessarily worry about not running out of power to get you there, as long as you can find a gas station. Now, to be fair there are some locations in Minnesota that are extremely rural and it might take a half hour or more of driving to get to a gas station.
Electric Vehicle Advantages
Electric vehicles have a lot of advantages as well. For example, you do not have to pay for gas! The only thing you are paying for are car payments, maintenance like new tires, and your electricity bill at home. If you are out on the highway and need to recharge your vehicle at a locla Hi Vee or other chanrging location, you will be charged for this, however it is nothing near the cost of gasoline.
Having an electric vehicles will offer you the peace of mind of having a vehicles that is mot emmitting any pollution. SOme may argue that worn tire tread, fluid leaks, and any other debris that may be affected by your electric car is an envirnoment issue, however not much compared to the emissions of a fully as powered vehicle.
Electric vehicles are quiet and basically only emit noise from the tires, wind resistance, or chimes, and other noises for letting others know the car is present. For example, Toyota hybrids emit a specific noise when in electric mode.
Another great advantage for buying an electric vehicle are tax incentives. In Minnesota there have previously been up to a $2500 tax rebate for purchasing electric vehicles. On the federal level there have been up to $7500 tax rebates for vehicles.

Who says you need a car?
In 2025 there are many options for electric vehicles that are not a Car, truck, or SUV. There are many electric motorcycles on the market that you can purchase and drive on the highway or off road. There are several off road trail bikes that are available that are ridiculously fast and handle extremely well off road. For example, The Stark Varg is a high performance off road motorcycle capabile of doing jumps, tricks, and getting you through anything, as long as you can charge it up.
A huge advantage for an electric motorcycle or electric bicycle is hunting and fishing. You can get into the woods much quieter on an electric motorcycle without disturbing game. Many of these new electric offroad bikes offer storage, cargo space, and mounts that can carry hunting and fishing gear very easily. Why not go out in to the outdoors without making a bunch of noise, you betcha!
There are also many new options in the on road motorcycle as well atvs. Manufacturers are seeing that many people are sick of the pollution, cost, and maintnenace of gas powered engines. There are lots of ATVs coming out that have the same power, speed and handling as thier gas powered outnerparts. In fact some of these are lighter, faster and perfom even better that the gas version!
